Sonoma Mountain Village, Mata de Sesimbra, Masdar City, Barangaroo, Panyu Jinshan, and BedZED all earn mention.The report was produced by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat.

BedZED ranked at #4 in Architect Magazine’s poll of “the five most-important green buildings” by (mostly) US voters.
Washington, DC. The Urban Land magazine’s green issue this month features a cover story by Stella Tarnay on the BedZED urban eco-neighborhood that inspired the One Planet Communities program. BioRegional and architect Bill Dunster began planning BedZED in the mid-1990s, and it was completed in 2002, jam-packed with sustainability features that only now are being considered in cutting edge developments in North America. “BedZED’s environmental achievements suggest that neighborhood-scale sustainable development can go much further than has been imagined in the USA.”
