Your City Moves by Bike
BioRegional Mexico successfully collaborated with the City of Queretaro, Mexico, helping them put together the successful submission for the competition “Tu Ciudad se Mueve en Bici” (Your City Moves by Bike), organised by the Centre for Sustainable Transport and sponsored by Deutsche Bank and Shell Foundation.
At COP16 in Cancun, Daniel Viliesdi of BioRegional Mexico joined the Sustainable Development Secretary for the City of Queretaro in an award ceremony where 150 urban-style bikes where gifted to the city in order initiate the public-bike scheme proposed in the submission.
The scheme will start in the historic centre of the city and it is part of the overall strategy to develop and implement a Sustainability Action Plan structured around the One Planet principles.
Discussions with the City of Queretaro are progressing and it is intended that work will start on the One Planet Action Plan in the first quarter of 2011.
