Our vision is of:
“A world in which it is easy, attractive and affordable for people everywhere to lead happy, healthy lives within their fair share of the earth’s resources”
The programme aims to:
A world in which people everywhere can lead happy, healthy lives within their fair share of the earth’s resources
- Demonstrate what a sustainable future looks like through a variety of real‐life projects
- Make it easy for people to understand where their environmental impacts arise and to do something about it
- Make One Planet Living be seen as a desirable and positive lifestyle choice
- Change the views of a critical mass of the population, including politicians, businesses and individuals, to make One Planet Living the norm.
To achieve these aims the One Planet Communities programme includes objectives to:
- Work with local partners to build a worldwide network of One Planet Communities that demonstrate One Planet Living in action
- Use the lessons from these exemplars to influence industry practice
- Establish One Planet Visitor Centres in each One Planet Community as a focus for education and training
- Promote One Planet Living and its guiding principles to bring about change in governments, businesses and individuals.
