About the programme
One Planet Communities is one of several One Planet Living initiatives from BioRegional - click on the image to find out more
The One Planet Communities programme is informed and inspired by BedZED, an urban eco-village co-created by BioRegional in 2002, that the UK Solar Awards called “Perhaps the most influential of all housing projects this century“.
We work in partnership with developers around the world to design, build and manage residential, mixed-use communities where it is easy, attractive and affordable for people to choose to live a healthier, high-quality lifestyle within a fair share of our planet’s resources.
Co-ordinated by BioRegional, the Communities programme is part of the wider One Planet initiative which uses the 10 One Planet principles to support local government, companies, organisations and individuals in their efforts to solutions for sustainable living. Funding
BioRegional runs the One Planet Communities programme as a social enterprise.
This means we rely on support from public and private funding bodies for our work in developing areas of the world and ask our more affluent partners to pay for the support they receive.
